Position: Bike TechnicianDepartment: Customer Service & Technical SupportReports to: Director of ProductLocation(s): In Person - HQ Utopia Office (Phoenix)The RoleWhy Does Your Role Matter? We are dedicated to sustainability, customer satisfaction, and expanding the accessibility of electric transportation.As a Bike Technician, you will be integral to ensuring our bikes are performing at their best while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for bike assembly, repair, and maintenance, with a specific focus on tuning mechanical systems and working on electric bike technologies.You'll also work closely with our Customer Service team to assist customers through technical troubleshooting via phone, video calls, and email. Your expertise will directly contribute to the overall success of our products and the quality of the customer experience.Essential Functions for this Role: eBike & Bike Maintenance: Perform a variety of technical repairs on eBikes, including but not limited to:Tuning derailleurs and adjusting shifting systems for optimal performanceAdjusting and maintaining disc brakes to ensure safety and functionalityReplacing inner tubes and installing tire sealant to prevent flatsInstalling and aligning headsets for proper steering performanceCustomer Support: Communicate technical information effectively with customers, providing expert guidance through troubleshooting processes via phone, video calls, or email. Assist with diagnosing and solving problems remotely, ensuring customers feel supported and confident in their eBike.Bike Assembly & Troubleshooting: Perform bike builds and disassemblies, ensuring every component is installed correctly. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in mechanical and electrical systems, from simple fixes to more complex issues.Logistics & Inventory: Assist with unloading shipments, organizing incoming parts and bikes, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. Assist with inventory management, tracking repairs, and maintaining accurate records of parts used and services performed.Quality Control: Conduct thorough checks of each bike after repair or maintenance to ensure all systems are functioning correctly and that the bike meets safety standards before being returned to the customer.Other Duties: Take on additional responsibilities as needed, including assisting in bike assembly for new orders or supporting team members with other technical tasks.Physical Demands:Must be able to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day)Ability to lift up to 65 pounds on occasion, particularly when handling bikes and bike partsComfortable working in a physically demanding environmentIdeal Qualifications Include: Education & Experience:High school diploma or equivalent requiredPrevious experience working in a bike shop required and/or a mechanical environment preferredA background in electric bikes (eBikes) is a plus, but not requiredTechnical Skills & Abilities:Strong mechanical aptitude with a keen eye for detailExperience tuning derailleurs, adjusting disc brakes, replacing tubes, and installing headsetsCapable of describing complex bike components and processes to customers in a simple, clear mannerTrack record of troubleshooting success in a mechanical setting, especially with bicycles or eBikesComfortable with a variety of mechanical tools and bike repair equipmentProficient in computer skills with the ability to learn and use new software systemsSoft Skills:Excellent communication skills, including active listening, with the ability to explain technical details to non-technical customersFriendly, customer-focused attitude with a passion for working with eBike consumersService-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality support and solutionsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, often under time pressureCompensation:Base Hourly rate - $21 to $26 (depending on experience)An annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of experience.Benefits:Accrual of PTO per PTO policy Company paid holidaysHealth benefits: medical + dental (Blue Cross Blue Shield of AZ), vision (Unum)Company paid Life Insurance and Short-Term Disability (Unum) for employee onlyVoluntary Life Insurance available for dependents401k participation (eligibility per plan summary) with company matchParental Leave Other company perks such as Bike to Work stipend, team lunches, etc---EEO StatementLectric eBikes is an equal opportunity employer.
